Items I Lost my Mind over in Rome's Biggest Prada Store

Having my Pretty Woman moment but swap Rodeo Drive for Piazza Navona.

Prada opened its first storefront in 1913. “In 1919 Prada won the title of Official Supplier of Italian Royalty,” according to fashion luxury. I was as excited to go to the Prada store in Rome as I was to see the Colosseum, one of the Seven Wonders of the World! Here are my seven wonders. Hint: they’re all wearable!

1. White Prada Tank: Probably the main reason why I was excited the Fall/Winter 22 Collection was still in stores is this tank. I have seen it in every American fashion mag. And here I am about to touch all $995 worth of a ribbed cotton tank. No one loves a ribbed tank more than a Y2K gal and this time they’re slender enough to wear just one at a time. A dream. Prada’s website style’s it with black leather jacket and skirt with worn brown undertones but it really can be worn any way you like. Tucked, untucked, knotted. I love it under a button up with just enough unbuttoned to see the logo. I am not saying this tank is responsible for the resurgence of Y2K on its own but it is certainly a big player.

The power of a logo is depicted here.

2. Black Denim Midi: Midi skirts are goldilocks-approved because they work best on people of all shapes and heights! Prada’s version is in a “unique black hue” which is a new concept. It takes a major Italian Fashion House like Prada to have the guts to reinvent black. This black is more muted than the rest, almost a dark gray. The center slit allows for functionality and fun!

Prada basically makin' the outfits for us.

3. Dyed Satin Mules: In Barbie Pink and Kelly Green, Prada proves their Fall/Winter 22 Collection was strategic. Bright colors are typically reserved for Spring/Summer but these two sassy shades have out trended the rest of the rainbow. The chunky heel and backless shape could easily be slid onto Barbie’s high arched feet and provide a sense of glam whether worn with a midi skirt and the Prada tank or sweatpants and a structured denim jacket.

Passions include: looking at these, touching them, and imagining them on my feet.

4. All Over Rhinestone Bag: It’s like these bags invented the term “eye-catching.” Plan your disco cowgirl aesthetic around one of these wearable disco bags. The only mistake you can make with accessorizing this fall is skimping on the sparkles. That’s it.

To have and to hold.

This, your Juicy Couture Jumpsuit, the Prada tank, and a Von Dutch hat. In Rome but, as seen on Paris.

5. Sheer Slip Dress: The way Prada plays with materials remains unmatched. This sheer silver logo slip dress can turn a Walmart t-shirt dress (worn underneath) into a luxury jumper. Prada’s mesh slip number is fun over full length denim and a knit top. Add a fuzzy wrap in your favorite show stopping neon hue. As temps fall, layering becomes more important and Prada’s embroidered mesh dress might be your best investment.

I saw this and knew I had to write about it. Then I saw the beaded sides and was breathless.

6. Sideways Fragrance: As a fragrance buyer, I know that the bottle shape and the color of the liquid sell regardless of the smell. Since conception, Prada has always been all about the metal triangle. How powerful is it to own a shape? The Paradoxe Eau De Parfum takes the equilateral and makes it 3D decor. You’ll see a version of, on everyone’s tiktok room tours. Curating a fragrance tray has become art. Luckily this fragrance never has to run out due to its eco-friendly refillable factor.

The star of this photo is obvious.

7. Pointed Mary Janes: We tend to romanticize the 1950s and between the resurgence of drive in movies and heeled Mary Janes I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything. (If you’ve seen Don’t Worry, Darling, I think you’d be quick to agree.) The pointed toe works well with Prada’s signature triangle logo and adds an adult-level edge. The secure ankle strap and sturdy wedge base make these heels walkable. (Walkable heels. This phrase was once an oxymoron.) The bubblegum pink to black ombre is genius as light and dark shoes typically play very different roles in our outfits. A black/pink combo can do it all. The Tina Turner-approved gold glitz looks equally fab with distressed boyfriend jeans as it does with a poofy tulle skirt. The brushed leather black pair is made for boardroom blazers.

My favorite photo of the trip!

Until next time, Roma.
