The Streets of Philadelphia: Installment I

Updated: Feb 10, 2022

A Ben Franklin-inspired cloak.

Going around and taking pics of random stranger’s outfits has been a thing since the invention of the Camera Phone. While walking the streets of Philadelphia I try to mind my business however, sometimes frequently there are outfits that make me stop and stare. I plan to post more installments of cutting-edge street style and cool in-store accessory finds throughout each season to inspire us all. Take this article as proof that it is possible to look cute in the dead of winter.

Pics say it all but a lot of the time I am a bad paparazzi. You know, too slow on the phone grab? I’ve detailed a few outfits you should definitely look to recreate below.

Clothing:

-A Medieval belted velvet dress.

-Black sweatshirt + black blazer. The great thing about this one: it's unisex. Saw a guy at the dinner table next to me rockin’ this look and men’s fashion rarely catches my eye.

-Cowprint pants + pastel corduroy work-shirt implies you *could* work on a farm.

-Long skirt + chains for the fancy factor. Fannypack and sneakers for a practical bit.

-A duster cardigan that actually goes to the floor. Best worn in stripes so it looks even longer.

-Geometric prints in one hue - many shades. Your art teacher would be proud!

-Literally any garment that reads “fragile handle with care.” How good is that?!

-Leather pants + camel colored coat that ends mid-calf + platform sneakers.

-Wool skirt + sheer tights + shoulder-reaching earrings make a neutral tone outfit drool-worthy.

-Jewel-toned corset + white button-down + printed capris = the most compliments on a look I’ve ever received at the office.

-Can we just appreciate wedding photographer's outfits? They’re sincerely the most underrated guest.

Accessories:

-Rectangular sunnies. They just make every look more mod.

-A dark lip + dark nails because on the off chance the mask is off, the lips must be fire.

-Scrunchie bags are a genius invention.

-Or if you prefer your scrunchie in your hair get the biggest one you can find. Not every trend has to be a 90s duplication.

-A mask chain clipped to your sunglasses like their OG use.

-A snakeskin mini handbag but, in like, a lot of colors!

-Brick red shoes. Whether it's Swedish buckle clogs or a stacked pleather boot I’m here for it.
