Subtle Ways to Step up your Dress Game

The lights are so bright, never blind me.

Let’s face it. You’re going to be seeing more people in the next two weeks than you likely did all Pandemic szn. We all kind of forgot how to dress for events in last year’s eventless era but, we’re back baby! It is especially crucial to dress to impress. Here are some simple tweaks that will level up your fave fits rather than buying a ton of new pieces.

1. Metallic. Literally glizen. At all times. On any article of clothing/accessory you choose. Start by thinking how you can replace neutral tone pieces with something shiny. Exhibit A: In the market for new boots? Pass on the black and go for a touch of Midas with gold combat boots.

2. Functional purses that are fun. Trading out for a seasonal purse is like hitting the reset button. Something with a bow always makes me feel festive in a subtle way.

A modern update to art classes' primary colors.

3. There’s one thing all winter holidays have in common and it may sound cheesy but, celebrating love and family. Jewelry that travels through generations is a great momento of loved ones because you can literally wear it on your person just as they have. If you haven’t noticed, chunky class rings are having a moment. Hit up Pop-Pop.

4. The DIY mani trend is paying my bills (Beauty Buyer jokes haha) and I suggest picking up a $5 pack of nail covering stickers in one hue and a variety of prints, glitters, and embellishments. Blake Lively, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish serve us mega nail inspo.

Pick an outfit that can move and groove with ya!

5. If you’re looking for a special treat for yourself a new coat will be sure to brighten your day! Think about how many days you wear a coat in December…ummm, all of them? Imagine the fuzzy fashion feelz of wearing something new each day.

6. Do a fun tuck! Instead of tucking in your shirt tail or not, play around with some in between options to see which way flatters your natural shape the best. Hint: the way you tuck in your shirt should vary for each outfit. The front tuck has become the internet’s favorite but you could also do just the sides or back. There are so many ways to make reworn clothes look different and fresh!

Look good, feel good, right? When in doubt do something that relaxes you, come back to your closet and wear something that makes you feel amazing!

The city has a camouflage effect.
