Outfits for your Car Selfie Series

Beep, beep!

Maybe it’s just me, but when I’m surfing the World Wide Web every perfectly procured selfie has a seatbelt creeping out of the upper right hand corner. I know there’s a reason for that. Zoom did it. 1. People have been in smaller groups i.e. less selection for photographers and a higher rate of selfies. 2. We, as a community, now feel the need to show everyone whenever we go literally anywhere. Plus, a possible third factor that I’m not sure if the masses know about, the indoor/outdoor lighting in a car is Goldielocks-right.

Ever since we were all forced to attend Z-word meetings, dressing from the shoulders up is 90% of the game. In case you’re tardy to the party or just want some extra tips read on to maximize your chest up beauty.

Selfies aren't just about your face. Show us you're in the drivers seat.

Make It Up: There’s never a need to hide behind makeup but, a little cheekbone contour invites a natural light beam to strike your face oh, so, flawlessly. As you take the pic, tighten your cheeks, pinching them slightly inwards towards your molars. This helps one highlight their highlighter. Lipstick is the forever and always way to bolden your face. It gives you the confidence that is needed to pose in the parking lot or street parked car. However, a nude or light pink glossy gloss is having a moment. (And that information is coming from a Beauty Buyer.) If you have longer hair pull it back with a few pieces left down to frame your artwork of a face. This also keeps hair out of lip gloss which my Y2k kids know is *essential.* Pass on heavy eye makeup and instead peek out from under sunglasses. It’s more authentic. Remember: the internet is fake but we can’t have it looking that way.

Driven.

Selfie Outfits: When deciding the best shirt for a selfie or a Teams call I think way back to school picture day. Anyone triggered? You don’t want to wear a shirt or a dress with large geo prints or graphics that get chopped in a way that distracts from your face. I encourage solid tops in the color that looks best on you or a small all over print like classic polka dots, stripes, or checkered. Layer on some necklaces as a prop.

Warm Weather Winners: When it is warm enough for short sleeves snap a pic in something interesting like a ruffled edge sleeve, shoulder zippers, or even a padded shoulder for sass. Baseball tees also do well for selfies because they make color blocking as easy as it gets.

On the inside, looking out.

Cool Weather Cuties: Sometimes our cars take awhile to warm up and that extra time makes for the perfect photo opp! A fur-lined hood or fuzzy beanie creates ski bunny vibes without actually having to hit the slopes. A turtleneck popping beneath the jacket and long earrings are a winning selfie set. I’m always mindful when I leave my coat on in a pic. I want to ensure what’s underneath it coordinates and doesn’t get lost in the layers. Black and tan is one of the best neutral combos. Play with it as you wish and send pics!
