Never in my life have I said the words Giddy Up but something about recent years has us more comfortable being taken out of our element. The Cowgirl in the concrete jungle is a phenomenon we’d never thought we’d see. The unexpectedness is what makes the rather simple look so fun! So lasso in an Old Fashion and sip it in your 2006 Taylor Swift boots. No need to curl your hair into ringlets. Leave the lowrise jeweled butt pocket jeans to the actual ranchers because, wearing cowboy boots as a modern woman is actually quite easy.
The easiest way to wear cowboy boots like a cool girl is as follows: put together an outfit you’d normally rock with your go-to black boots ( I know you know the ones.) Then merely swap for cowboy boots. Don’t overthink it. Here are some of my favorite combos that are more Rodeo than rodeo.
Cowgirl Boots: Tall white knee-high boots with a feather hem tank or a tulle skirt. Something floaty and ballerina-like. Bun optional. Pearls required.
Everyday Cowboy Boots: Brown and white cowskin, pointed toe boots with literally everything. That is all I have to say. These are easiest to work into your looks (Read: Cowboy boots for newbies.) because they don’t have most elements of a signature cowboy boot: embroidery or pull on tabs. What makes them rancher inspired is not the shape but rather, the print which is in fact all the rage. For fall I use printed booties like these to make my solid sweater and jeans combos more original.
Nightlife Cowboy Boots: Now these are hard to find BUT, how hot are black matte midcalf boots with a chunky metal spur. Think about the chains you could drape on your ankle and wrap around the spurs? Not to mention, these shoes can literally help you stay safe! Pair with a mini or a midi skirt and tights to ensure the entirety of this killer boot feels seen.
Colorful Cowboy Boots: If you’re looking for a non-neutral look no further than the legendary shade of lipstick red. Of course, I am a huge fan of Toy Story 2 but just think how much more iconic Jessie would be if she wore red boots instead of brown. The red would match her hat and her rope-like red hair! The color will obviously stand out so pick a pair of cowboy boots with a more of an intricate embroidered design on the calves for a fun surprise. Perhaps, Guy Fieri approved flames?
Think of wearing cowboy boots on the daily the same as a motorcycle jacket. In theory, it doesn't make a lot of sense but, it sure looks cool. Fashion has never been about practicality. Save a horse, take an Uber.
